Housing Headlines

WINCHESTER --- Upcoming elections will decide whether the town raises taxes to purchase land and prevent the development of Winchester Farms. Residents have expressed concern about the potential tax hikes that will ensue from this election along with two others that are under consideration, including one to implement the Community Preservation Act.

COHASSET --- At a meeting held in the town library, residents expressed their opposition to the Housing Partnership's announcement of preliminary plans to convert a former hospital into 7 units of housing in a 'friendly 40B' effort.

WESTFORD --- Residents have voted not to raise taxes to buy land from a developer who, as a result of the vote, can now go forward with his bid to build a 248-unit affordable housing effort.

MASSACHUSETTS --- A state representative has submitted legislation to permanently preserve affordable rents at properties financed by the federal government.

BOSTON --- A developer has submitted plans for a mixed-use effort that, if approved, will add 668 housing units, retail, and parking space to Kenmore Square near Fenway Park.

MILFORD --- In an effort to fight overcrowding in homes, the Board of Health hopes to pass regulations to require a certain amount of common space relative to the number of bedrooms in apartment units.
