Lawrence: $4M bond financing secured for affordable complex

LAWRENCE --- Developer Jupiter IV LLC recently secured $4 million in bond financing from the state to continue the conversion of a vacant site into affordable housing. The financing will be used to acquire and renovate the vacant American Woolen Mills Townhouses complex and create 35 affordable housing units.

Leominster: Non-profit proposes 40 units in rehabbed building

LEOMINSTER --- Twin Cities Community Development Corporation recently presented a proposal to the Zoning Board of Appeals to turn a former manufacturing building into affordable housing. The proposed 40B project is set to consist of 40 apartments of all of which would be affordable.

Brockton: Affordable units for seniors offered through lottery

BROCKTON --- CSI Support and Development Services developers recently proposed the construction of an apartment complex for seniors on Centre Street. The non-profit developers will use grants from the federal government to build 40 affordable one-bedroom units. The units will be offered through a lottery with preference given to Brockton residents. If the project is approved for funding, construction is set to begin sometime in 2010.

Marshfield: Developer proposes 44-unit complex

MARSHFIELD --- Developer Michael Solimando recently proposed the construction of a 44-unit housing complex on 17 acres he owns off South River Street. The proposed 40B development would consist of attached single-family homes, eleven of which would be reserved as affordable.

Quincy: 5 units created for homeless families

QUINCY --- Quincy Community Action Program, a local non-profit, recently renovated a former community center to create five rental units for formerly homeless families. The project was funded with local, state and federal funds and the units will have an affordability restriction placed on them for 30 years.

Ashland: Seeking developer bids for 88-unit affordable complex

ASHLAND --- The Affordable Housing Committee is currently accepting developer proposals for an 88-unit affordable housing project approved for town-owned land. The project will be a mix of 64 age-restricted rental units and 24 townhouse condominium units.
