Agawam: Residents continue protest of HAP land buy

AGAWAM --- Opposition to a Springfield-based housing nonprofit's purchase of a 12.5 acre former farm continues to be swift as opponents have submitted a copy of an online petition to the City Council asking that city funds be used to purchase the property to prevent it from becoming an affordable housing development even though the housing nonprofit - HAPHousing- has yet to specify its plans for the property.

Quincy: Neighbor challenges ZBA OK of 32 condos

QUINCY --- The Zoning Board of Appeals' OK of a developer's plan to raze a two-family home, blast some ledge and build a six-story, 32-unit condominium development has been challenged by a neighbor in Land Court, who says the project is "wildly" out of scale with the neighborhood just outside Quincy center.

Framingham: OKs 270 units near downtown rail stop

FRAMINGHAM --- The Planning Board has given the green light to Mill Creek Residential for the construction of 270 units within walking distance of Framingham's downtown commuter rail stop. To be called Modera Framingham, 10 percent of the units will be affordable. The Framingham development will add to Mill Creek’s portfolio of more than 1,400 apartment homes in six communities in Massachusetts, including Concord, Hopkinton and Natick.

Worcester: Troubled rooming house sold at auction

WORCESTER --- A lawyer and real estate investor from Barre has bought the troubled 68-bed Albion, the troubled Main St. rooming house which has been cited for 84 code violations in 16 months and has had more than 1,500 police and 400 ambulance calls in the last three years.

Falmouth: Developer to pursue housing, not hotel

FALMOUTH --- RAVentures of Westford has dropped its appeal of a decision that blocked its plans to build a hotel and will instead move forward with its fallback plan to pursue a Ch. 40B permit from the town so it can build 104 apartments on Main Street.
