Grafton: Mulls using cemetery land for housing

GRAFTON --- Two Grafton selectmen are asking the town to consider using some of its unused cemetery land for affordable housing. “Thirty or 40 years from now, we might have a crisis where we don’t know where to put people who passed away. But right now, we have living people who cannot afford housing,” said Selectmen Ed Prisby.

Truro: Selects Ptown developer to build on town site

TRURO --- The Select Board has chosen Community Housing Resource Inc. (CHR) of Provincetown to develop town-owned land at 22 Highland Road just off Route 6 into 41 mixed-income apartments. CHR had previously developed Sally's Way, a 16-unit affordable housing development near the Truro library. The land for his new project is former state highway site transferred to the town through the Baker Administration's Open for Business Program.

Weymouth: Air base close to projections amid turbulence

WEYMOUTH --- Despite ongoing management issues and a scheduled public auction by one of its lenders, Southfield Redevelopment Authority land use administrator Jim Young told his board yesterday that the redevelopment of the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station has met about 80 percent of its development projections. The plan in fiscal 2014 predicted 2,855 residential units and 900,000 square feet of commercial space by 2025. As of June of 2018, Young said Union Point had 920 residential units and 43,000 square feet of commercial space, including the nursing home.
