BOSTON --- The Massachusetts Housing Partnership has announced that after more than four decades of transformative leadership, Executive Director Clark Ziegler will be retiring at the end of February 2026.
“MHP has been a job of a lifetime and it’s hard to leave when I’m still so completely energized by the work that we do,” said Ziegler. “Change is good, both for me and for MHP. Our organization is strong and we’re having more impact than at any other time in our history.”
Ziegler has been with MHP since its inception in 1985 and has been chief executive since it became a quasi-public state agency in 1990. He served on Governor Healey’s Unlocking Housing Production Commission and serves on the board of the Community Economic Development Assistance Corporation, which provides financing and technical assistance to community-based nonprofits across Massachusetts. He also chairs the board of the Housing Partnership Fund, a federally certified community development financial institution and a lending affiliate of the Housing Partnership Network, an organization that brings together the nation's leading housing and community development nonprofits.
During Ziegler’s tenure, MHP has delivered financing or technical assistance in nearly every city and town in the Commonwealth, including financing for more than 33,500 units of affordable rental housing. MHP’s ONE Mortgage program has financed 25,700 home purchases for low- and moderate-income first-time homebuyers. MHP has delivered $6.5 billion in below-market bank financing for affordable housing and currently has $1.2 billion in assets under management.

“Over the past four decades, Clark has built MHP from the ground up into the strong quasi-agency that it is today, leading the way on every aspect of affordable housing, from innovative financing like the One Mortgage program to community capacity building, such as the Massachusetts Housing Institute, to rigorous data and policy analysis through the Center for Housing Data,” said MHP Board of Directors Chair, Alicia Modestino. “During the pandemic, Clark’s leadership was instrumental in developing and implementing an impressive array of state housing programs, policies and resources, such as the Subsidized Emergency Housing Assistance program and the Massachusetts Homeowner Assistance Fund and that helped the Commonwealth keep its most vulnerable residents housed. His legacy will live on through the many lives MHP will continue to impact on a daily basis.”
The MHP board of directors has formed a search committee and engaged Bridge Partners to lead the national search for a new executive director. If you are interested in the position or would like to recommend a candidate, please reach out directly to Janet Albert at Bridge Partners Executive Search.
