Workshops focus on regional monitoring, Ch. 40B, fair housing

April is promising to be a good month for building a better understanding of affordable housing fundamentals, with workshops focused on regional monitoring, Chapter 40B and the history and importance of fair housing.

Here are the details and how you can register:

Regional housing service organizations

What: Many municipalities are investing in and advocating for affordable housing, but there is often a gap in local capacity to track, administer and support the housing once it is created.

Leaders from regional non-profit development and housing service organizations will discuss the benefits of having a coordinated, inter-municipal, regional approach to affordable housing.

Chapter 40B workshop

What: Sponsored by Citizens' Planner Training Collaborative (CPTC), Ch. 40B expert Judi Barrett of Barrett Planning Group LLC, will discuss the following topics: 

  • Reviewing initial application for compliance with 40B eligibility and submission requirements
  • Noticing and conducting the required public hearing; 
  • Scheduling a site visit; 
  • Retaining Peer Review consultants; 
  • Securing sufficient project information to make an informed decision; 
  • Holding deliberation sessions; 
  • Drafting and issuing the Comprehensive Permit decision
  • Managing the Comprehensive Permit.

Fair Housing Month Symposium

What: Hosted by the Citizens' Housing and Planning Association, the program will reflect on the great achievements made over the last 53 years and look towards the work that is still needed to ensure fair housing and equal access to housing opportunities for all. Stay tuned for more details, including an agenda and a list of speakers and panelists.
