Geared towards officials, volunteers and employees in suburban and rural communities, the Housing Institute is a two-day workshop that engages participants in discussion and problem solving around the development of affordable housing.

Highlights of this year's agenda include:

  • State policy and legislative update
  • Exclusionary zoning through the lens of fair housing
  • Navigating the RFP process
  • Who participates in local government?
  • Local resources to support affordable housing
  • Municipal finance

On June 5, our lunchtime keynote speaker will be Dr. Tiffany Manuel from The Case Made, Inc. She will talk about how to elevate the way we frame conversations on equity, housing, and community development. Click here to read more about Dr. Manuel.

The last session on Day 2 is designed to take what you learned and put it to work. In an effort to prepare for this interactive session, we would like to hear about what issues you would like to workshop so that we can divide groups up by theme. Only one survey per community is necessary. Please take the survey.

For municipal planners, volunteers and non-profit organizations, the cost to attend both days is $100 and $50 for one day. The cost for for-profit organizations is $160 for two days and $80 for one day

All training materials will be provided electronically. A paper version of materials is available for an additional fee.

Need-based scholarships are available until May 15, 2019. Communities sending two or more people will receive a 20 percent discount on each registration (enter the code TEAM20 on the payment page).

For those interested in staying overnight, arrangements can be made with the Marriott SpringHill Suites Devens Common Center. Remember to mention the Housing Institute when booking to receive a discounted rate.
