BOSTON --- MHP’s homeownership team hit the road this month, doing three events in Boston to explain the benefits of the ONE Mortgage program to prospective first-time homebuyers and realtors.

On Wednesday, Oct. 12, participated in a roundtable with realtors at the City of Boston’s Department of Neighborhood Development (DND). The purpose of the event was to make realtors aware of ONE Mortgage’s terms and why it’s the state’s most affordable mortgage program for first-time homebuyers.

MHP Homeownership Director Elliot Schmiedl explains the ONE program.

The team fielded questions about the eligibility requirements, credit scores and types of properties first-time buyers can afford. Real estate groups that attended included Coldwell Banker, The Mandrell Company, Thumbprint Realty, Keller Williams, Cheryl Sullivan Associates, and Exit Bayside Realty.

On Thursday, Oct. 13, the team participated in a City of Boston Meet the Lenders event in Brighton. Here, the MHP team made a presentation to 15 prospective first-time buyers and then spoke individually with them afterward. Homebuyers wanted to know about eligibility requirements, interest subsidies, income limits and the process for obtaining a loan.

On Wednesday, Oct. 19, approximately 40 first-time buyers appeared at a City of Boston-sponsored first-time homebuyer class at the Roxbury Boys & Girls Club.

ONE Mortgage is offered by 37 lenders across Massachusetts. It is the state’s most affordable mortgage program, having helped over 20,000 families purchase their first home. The program features a low-down payment, a low, fixed interest rate and homebuyers don’t have to pay for private mortgage insurance, which further lowers down payments.
