MHP is seeking a Communications Coordinator with experience in affordable housing and/or communications to be an essential partner in supporting the organization’s communication strategy. The Communications Coordinator reports to the Director of Public Affairs. Primary objectives of the role include working with all teams at MHP to produce print, web and social media content and marketing materials. Communication is an integral component of MHP’s messaging and branding. This position will play an important role in creating engaging content to help expand MHP’s messaging and broaden its audience. In this role, the Communications Coordinator will have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of affordable housing, including policy creation, how data informs policy, technical assistance to communities, housing authorities and nonprofits, multifamily financing and affordable homeownership.
Specific responsibilities will include: Coordinating with MHP teams to strategize and draft news releases, email announcements, and social media content. Maintaining MHP’s website, keeping content up to date and fresh including monthly updates for each team’s home page content. Assist the Director of Public Affairs and each team in planning, publicizing and administration of virtual and in-person events such as workshops, trainings, board off-sites and community meetings with new and existing stakeholders. Work with MHP’s teams to produce targeted email newsletters focused on reaching primary audiences and expanding to reach new followers. Produce and edit videos for web and social posts. Support the Director of Public Affairs and each team in the writing and editing of publications including but not limited to: annual report, guidebooks, success story features and policy papers.
Applicants must have excellent documented written and oral communication skills, experience managing and executing digital communication programs/platform and proficiency with Microsoft office, social media and scheduling platforms. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Qualifications include: Demonstrated interest in affordable housing and community development and/or communications. Excellent research, writing, verbal and interpersonal skills. Relevant job experience strongly preferred. Work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining consistently high quality work. A valid driver’s license, or the ability to acquire one, and the ability to manage in-state travel.

MHP is currently operating a fully remote platform. We are beginning to review plans for a safe post-COVID return to office operation. The successful candidate for this position will be required to work in our Boston office and travel within the state as needed.
