Multifamily Zoning and Development Workshop

What: This workshop is tailored for communities within the Metropolitan Area Planning Council's SouthWest Advisory Planning Committee (SWAP) and Three Rivers Interlocal Council (TRIC) subregions. Topics include an overview of the state of housing in Massachusetts, how to proactively plan for multifamily development and challenges/best practices in developing housing.

When: April 26, 2018 from 9 a.m. to noon How: Registration is free and open to communities in MAPC's SWAP and TRIC subregions.

Affordable Housing Trust Training

What: This day-long training is geared members of Affordable Housing Trust boards, staff and those interested in learning more about trusts.

Topics include:

  • An overview of what a Municipal Affordable Housing Trust is
  • How trusts can support a community's affordable housing goals
  • Strategies for building relationships and establishing credibility

Where: Taunton Holiday Inn, 700 Myles Standish Blvd., Taunton, MA 02780

When: April 28, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. How: Cost to attend is $25. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.

12th Annual Housing Institute

What: Geared towards officials, volunteers and employees in suburban and rural communities, the Housing Institute is a two-day intensive workshop that engages participants in discussion and problem solving around the development of affordable housing.

Topics include:

  • Planning and assessing needs
  • Predevelopment and site selection
  • Overview of housing development process
  • Fair housing
  • Housing finance
  • Building community support for affordable housing
  • Overview of Chapter 40B
  • Community Preservation Act (CPA)

Where: Devens Common Center, 31 Andrews Parkway, Devens, MA 01434

When: June 6 & 7, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
