Changes to MAHT statute in effect Nov. 7

BOSTON --- This past summer, the Commonwealth took a big step in resolving discrepancies between the Community Preservation Act (CPA) and the Municipal Affordable Housing Trust (MAHT) statutes when Gov. Charlie Baker signed into law An Act Modernizing Municipal Finance and Government (H. 4565). Included in the bill were changes to the MAHT statute, MGL Chapter 44, Section 55c.

Recent changes to MAHT statute

BOSTON --- Given the limited mission of Municipal Affordable Housing Trusts (MAHT) as defined in MGL Ch. 44, Sec 55c, MAHTs that use Community Preservation Act (CPA) funds for all allowable CPA community housing uses have been in a quandary. Some may not even realize it.

Win-Win: Preserving history, adding housing

MIDDLEBORO --- In its heyday, the three-story wood-framed shoe factory on Peirce Street stood proudly next to the neighborhood’s single-family homes, employing a hundred workers. Now, it's been preserved as affordable housing.

Ground breaking community planning

BOSTON --- Mission Hill Neighborhood Housing Services’ efforts to bring housing and economic development to the neighborhood reached another milestone recently as it celebrated the start of construction at Parcel 25, a vacant two-acre parcel across the street from the Roxbury Crossing MBTA Orange Line station.
