SoftSecond announces program guideline changes
Focus on supporting buyers of 3-family properties; new rules in effect
BOSTON, March 1, 2012 --- In an effort to provide more direct support to first-time homebuyers, the SoftSecond Loan Program will now provide and require additional one-on-one pre-purchase counseling for buyers of three-family properties.

BOSTON, July 28, 2011 --- In an ongoing effort to provide safe, secure mortgage financing for low and moderate-income first-time homebuyers, the Massachusetts Housing Partnership's SoftSecond Loan Program is offering expanded pre- and post-purchase counseling services, which are designed to help buyers keep their homes and avoid foreclosure.

New rules for non-traditional credit, deed-restricted condos; effective May 23
BOSTON, May 31, 2011 --- Borrowers who have a good history of paying their bills but who may not have established a tradtional credit history from a bank may now be eligible for a SoftSecond loan, according to new program guidelines released by the Massachusetts Housing Partnership (MHP).
