Annual Mass. Housing Institute a success with 80 attendees
June 14, 2010DEVENS, June 14, 2010 --- MHP recently co-hosted its fourth annual Massachusetts Housing Institute at the Marriott Spring Hill Suites and Conference Center at Devens.
With 80 attendees representing 50 communities, the two-day conference hosted local officials, planners, community preservation committees, and others who are working to provide housing options in their communities.
The first day of the conference began with an overview of the basics of the affordable housing development process and concluded with first-hand information on how to succeed in winning community support for affordable housing.
The second day of the conference began with policy and legislative updates from CHAPA executive director Aaron Gornstein and concluded with a panel of experts highlighting tools and techniques for dealing with distressed properties. A progress report on MHP's Foundation for Growth research project was also part of the program. Click here to view the two-day schedule.
The event was sponsored by the Massachusetts Housing Partnership (MHP), Citizen's Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA), the state Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), and the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Planning Association (MA APA).
