MHP's Community Housing Initiatives team supports communities, local housing authorities and developers in their efforts to create affordable housing for low and moderate-income families.
Currently, CHI has compiled a variety of materials on the following topics:Housing Partnerships
MHP works with local housing authorities to facilitate the preservation of existing public housing, and the creation of new housing on public housing sites.
MHP has authored and compiled documents relating to the disposition of public land for the development of affordable housing.
Municipalities
Over the years, MHP has authored, commissioned and compiled publications and documents to help communities get affordable housing efforts started.
Massachusetts is one of only a handful of states with a public housing program. With 50,000 units, the state portfolio is larger than the federal housing portfolio of 34,000 units.
